UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski is not a fan of Henry Cejudo removing his coach Eric Albarracin from his corner on UFC Countdown.

Cejudo has been with Albarracin before his UFC career but before ‘Triple C’s’ return fight against Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 298, the former flyweight and bantamweight champion removed his longtime coach from his corner.

“You were with me for my last Olympic trials, and you’ve been there for me, but as of right now, I just want to let you know that for this camp, dude, I’m getting rid of specific coaches – and that’s you included,” Cejudo said to Albarracin. “Sometimes you get too close to somebody and people just get too comfortable… Right now, what I want to do in this fight camp is keep it strictly business.”

Although changing coaches is nothing new, many fans were annoyed at how Henry Cejudo decided to do it, as it could have been done behind closed doors and not with the UFC camera crew there.

Alexander Volkanovski, who’s headlining UFC 298, was asked about Henry Cejudo removing his coach from his corner on camera and the featherweight champ was not a fan.

“Is that legit or what? Like is this some weird way of marketing? I just don’t get it. In front of the cameras, it’s just so weird… I just don’t get it, you are an absolute prick if you are doing that and just thought this would be good content, I’m going to make the most of this and go out and do that,” Volkanovski said to TheMacLife. “Henry if this is legit, you are a piece of shit. Let me tell you that right now, that is crazy to me. That is why I don’t believe it, I don’t think he’s that much of a shitbag to do that, I don’t think he is.”

With Alexander Volkanovski being skeptical that Henry Cejudo was serious, he says he plans on asking him at the UFC 298 press conference.

“I will ask him, I will go ‘are you serious, surely you are taking the piss.’ I don’t get it, I really don’t get it, it’s crazy to me. Maybe he’s just all about himself, so full of himself he doesn’t care about anybody around him, I don’t know,” Volkanovski said.

Ultimately, Volkanovski says he’s just focused on himself as he looks to beat Ilia Topuria on Saturday to defend his featherweight title in the main event of UFC 298.
