They stormed out to a 17-point lead and in the eyes of most fans, they’d be able to hold on to that lead.

Joe Rogan believes Dustin Poirier will have his hands full at UFC 299 against Benoit Saint-Denis. Poirier is set to return to the Octagon for the first time since he was knocked out by Justin Gaethje last July, as he will take on the streaking Benoit Saint-Denis in an intriguing lightweight fight on March 9th. Saint-Denis is coming off a KO win over Matt Frevola and has been a proven finisher in his UFC career.

At UFC 294, Islam Makhachev was initially scheduled to defend his UFC lightweight championship against Charles Oliveira. Unfortunately, as a result of ‘Do Bronx’ suffering a nasty cut in training, he was forced to withdraw. Alexander Volkanovski replaced him on short notice and ultimately, came up short in a knockout defeat to the star from Dagestan.

Just a matter of hours ago, it was announced that Charles Oliveira has been pulled from his scheduled contest with Islam Makhachev at UFC 294. The two were set to take part in a rematch, with the UFC lightweight championship being on the line. Unfortunately, due to a nasty cut sustained by ‘Do Bronx’ in training, the fight is no longer going ahead.

Gaethje and Poirier first met in April 2018 when it was ‘The Diamond’ who won by fourth-round TKO in one of the best fights of the year. The two finally had their rematch back in July at UFC 291 for the BMF belt and it was Gaethje who got his revenge as he scored a second-round head kick KO.

Alvarez (30-8 MMA) left the UFC in July of 2018 after being defeated by Dustin Poirier (29-8 MMA) via TKO in round 2. ‘The Underground King’ went on to sign with ONE Championship later that year.

Over five years after Dustin Poirier handed ‘The Highlight’ a knockout loss, he suffered the same fate. In their pay-per-view headliner, Gaethje scored a highlight-reel second-round knockout win.

That frustrating setback served as Dustin’s second in his past three contests, as he was previously submitted by Charles Oliveira in a fight for the lightweight championship at UFC 269.
