Joe Pyfer issues statement following loss to Jack Hermansson at UFC Vegas 86
Joe Pyfer has issued a statement after suffering a unanimous decision loss to Jack Hermansson in tonight’s UFC Vegas 86 main event.
Pyfer (12-3 MMA) had entered his first career UFC main event sporting a five-fight win streak, his most recent being a second-round submission victory over Abdul Razak Alhassan this past October at UFC Vegas 80. ‘Bodybagz’ was hoping to improve his Octagon record to a perfect 4-0 this evening.
Meanwhile, Jack Hermansson (24-8 MMA) was returning to action for the first time since suffering a TKO loss to Roman Dolidze 14 months ago at UFC Orlando. ‘The Joker’ had gone 2-3 over his previous five fights, earning wins over Edmen Shahbazyan and Chris Curtis during that stretch.
Tonight’s UFC Vegas 86 main event proved to be a hard-fought back and forth affair that went the full twenty-five minutes. Joe Pyfer was able to get off to a strong start in the fight, dominating ‘The Joker’ in the opening five minutes. Round two proved to be more less the same, although Hermansson did find some offense in the final couple of minutes. After being down 2-0 after the opening ten minutes, Jack Hermansson began to take control of the fight in round three thanks to his hard low kicks and crisp jab. After busting up Pyfer in rounds three and four while on the feet, Hermansson switched things up in the final five minutes. ‘The Joker’ took the fight to the floor midway through the final round and proceeded to smother ‘Bodbagz’ on the canvas on route to a unanimous decision win.

Shortly following tonight’s disappointing setback, the 27-year-old American took to Instagram where he issued the following statement on his first career UFC loss.
“I just want to say, I’m okay. Despite how my face looks. I wasn’t rocked. I got punched in the eyeball, couldn’t see. He did a good job on the can(vas). I feel like the eye, when I lost vision, I fell that round. Like I lost that round and just couldn’t get it back. Then he did a good job on the can(vas). So, to all my haters, suck a fat dick. I wasn’t supposed to be here anyway. I give it one hundred percent every time. We will make adjustments and we’ll come back. Thank you to all my sponsors and to everyone who supports me. And yeah, good job Jack (Hermansson).”
