Report | UFC 300 bout in jeopardy due to premature announcement by Dana White
A UFC 300 bout is reportedly in jeopardy due to a premature announcement made by UFC CEO Dana White.
The historic UFC 300 will take place on Saturday, April 13th at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
It was on ‘The MMA Hour‘ that Ariel Helwani spoke about another fight being in jeopardy at UFC 300:
“I can tell you there’s another fight on (UFC) 300, one of the particulars has not agreed to yet. I’m not gonna say which fight it is, and I’ll tell you it’s probably not a main card fight, but there’s another fight on that card that was put out before one of the fighters agreed to it — and as of this second, they have not agreed to it yet.”
That’s quite the teaser from the MMA journalist.
News came out just last week that the Dustin Poirier (29-8 MMA) vs. Benoit Saint-Denis (13-1 MMA) co-main event bout scheduled for UFC 299 was in jeopardy. Poirier made claims that it was announced prior to him signing the contract, then he took it back claiming it was all a misunderstanding and the fight in fact was back on.
The current UFC 300 lineup looks like this:
Weili Zhang (24-3 MMA) vs. Xiaonan Yan (18-3 MMA) – Strawweight Title Fight
Justin Gaethje (25-4 MMA) vs. Max Holloway (25-7 MMA) – BMF Title Fight
Charles Oliveira (34-9 MMA) vs. Arman Tsarukyan (21-3 MMA) – Lightweight
Jiri Prochazka (29-4 MMA) vs. Aleksandar Rakic (14-3 MMA) – Light Heavyweight
Aljamain Sterling (23-4 MMA) vs. Calvin Kattar (23-7 MMA) – Featherweight
Bo Nickal (5-0 MMA) vs. Cody Brundage (10-5 MMA) – Middleweight
Cody Garbrandt (14-5 MMA) vs. Deiveson Figueiredo (22-3 MMA) – Bantamweight
Holly Holm (15-6 MMA) vs. Kayla Harrison (16-1 MMA) – Bantamweight
Jessica Andrade (25-12 MMA) vs. Marina Rodriguez (17-3 MMA) – Strawweight
Jim Miller (37-17 MMA) vs. Bobby Green (31-15 MMA) – Lightweight
Diego Lopes (23-6 MMA) vs. Sodiq Yusuff (13-3 MMA) – Featherweight
As Helwani has indicated, one of the above UFC 300 fights is in jeopardy – any prediction on which fight it might be?
