Andrea Lee issues classy statement on cancelled UFC Milwaukee fight with Jessica-Rose Clark

Originally, streaking UFC flyweight contender Andrea Lee was expected to meet Australia’s Jessica-Rose Clark on the undercard of this weekend’s UFC Milwaukee event. Unfortunately, this exciting flyweight matchup was nixed when Clark was deemed unfit to compete by the UFC medical team.

“On Friday morning UFC flyweight Jessica-Rose Clark was deemed medically unfit to compete by UFC physicians,” the UFC said in a statement (via Amy Kaplan on Twitter). “As a result the scheduled flyweight bout with Clark and Andrea Lee has been cancelled.”

Speaking on her official Instagram page shortly after this news broke, Andrea Lee issued a classy statement on this unfortunate twist of fate.

“Sorry guys my fight was scratched,” she wrote in the caption for her post. “It’s kinda funny actually, considering how crappy 2018 has been. I’ve made no excuses though, I came prepared, I trained hard, camp was AMAZING, I water loaded, I ate my meals, I started my cut as soon as I stepped off the plane, actually before I got on the plane, I cut all day yesterday and was at 128 when I went to bed and woke up at 127, I’m always ready. I know Jess wanted to fight as badly as I did and it’s just unfortunate how these things turn out. I hope she is well and healthy. It sucks for the both of us. Please don’t talk shit, it’s over and we are focused on the next.”

In her post, she also announced that she is auctioning off a signed UFC hat.

Andrea Lee made her UFC debut in May, when she defeated Veronica Macedo by unanimous decision. She’s 9-2 overall.
