MMA legend Frankie Edgar will make his final walk to the cage this evening at UFC 281 for a bantamweight bout with Chris Gutierrez. Edgar (24-10-1 MMA) will enter the Octagon looking to snap a two-fight losing skid, this after suffering back-to-back knockout losses to Marlon Vera and Cory Sandhagen. Prior to those setbacks, ‘The Answer’ was coming off a split-decision win over Pedro Munhoz.

Frankie Edgar will make the walk – rather run – to the Octagon for the final time at UFC 281. Edgar is set to take on Chris Gutierrez on the main card of UFC 281 at Madison Square Garden. It will also be Edgar’s 36th professional fight and 30th in the UFC between three weight classes and also being the former lightweight champ. Yet, he says he still hasn’t truly reflected on how great his career is, but it is something he’s looking forward to doing.

Frankie Edgar knew he wanted his retirement fight to happen at UFC 281 at Madison Square Garden. Edgar last fought back at UFC 268 in November last year at MSG against Marlon Vera. He had success early on but in the third round, he suffered a KO loss. After the defeat, Edgar took some time off and this summer, he realized he wanted to fight one more time and wanted it at MSG.

Edgar suffered a brutal third-round knockout loss when Vera connected on a brutal front kick to the jaw that sat Edgar down to the mat. However, when speaking on the Champ and The Tramp podcast, Edgar admitted that he feels referee Todd Anderson stopped the fight too early. As far as Edgar goes, he was still in the fight, and when he looks at some of the other fights at UFC 268 that weren’t stopped, he was unhappy the referee did so.

The wife of former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar reacted following his brutal KO loss to Marlon Vera at UFC 268. Edgar was knocked out in the third round of his bantamweight fight against Vera on Saturday night at UFC 268. For Edgar, this was his second straight loss by knockout following a flying knee KO to Cory Sandhagen earlier this year. Given that he is now 40 years old and appears to be less durable than he once was, there have been suggestions that Edgar could even opt to hang up his gloves and retire following this latest KO loss to Vera. After all, it was a tough loss for Edgar, and a tough one for his family to witness.

UFC bantamweight contender Marlon Vera reacted after knocking out MMA legend Frankie Edgar at UFC 268, saying “this is a dream come true.” Vera knocked out Edgar with a front kick late in the third round of their UFC 268 main card bantamweight fight. It was a phenomenal victory by Vera, who is now poised to enter the top-10 rankings in the stacked UFC 135lbs weight class. For Vera, this knockout over Edgar represents by far the biggest win of his career on paper, and he did it in style, too, winning a $50,000 bonus for “Performance of the Night” for his incredible knockout.
