EXCLUSIVE | Bobby Moffett makes confident prediction for UFC Nashville showdown with Bryce Mitchell
Bobby Moffett called for a showdown with fellow featherweight prospect Bryce Mitchell, and that’s just what he got. The pair will collide at UFC Nashville on March 23.
Speaking on episode 111 of BJPENN Radio, Moffett broke down this compelling showdown with Bryce Mitchell.
He recognizes that his upcoming opponent poses some definite challenges.
“I think Bryce is a really tough dude,” he said. “He’s a tough dude. He knows how to win, and he hangs in there. I don’t think he’s got the best cardio, but he’s got really good heart. He’s not going to give up in a fight. And whether he gets tired or hurt, he’s going to keep on trying to win. So, it’s a really tough fight, I think. Him and I match up pretty well with each other. He likes to do, kind of, the same stuff that I do. He just likes to switch stances a little bit more, he goes south quite a bit.”
While Bobby Moffett respects his upcoming opponent’s skills, he doesn’t think Mitchell is all that different from his last opponent, Chas Skelly, who he submitted back in November.
“It’s similar to Chas Skelly in the attacking way, like the wrestling and jiu jitsu stuff,” he added. “So, I’m used to fighting those kind of guys. And those are the kind of guys I like to beat up.”
Given the similarities between Chas Skelly and Bryce Mitchell, Bobby Moffett expects to win this fight in similar fashion. Almost identical fashion, as a matter of fact.
“I just feel like I’m going to choke him in the second round,” he said. “I feel like that’s just my round. My first round is always a little slower than normal. And then the second round I pick it up. I don’t get a second wind, it’s like I didn’t get wind in the first round. It’s like my body didn’t acclimate or get used to the fight yet for some reason. So in the second round I’m going to go out there and finish him and might choke him. Most likely he’s going to want to, he’s going to want a grappling exchange so I know that that’s where I’m going to catch him.”
